Speaking of City School Graduations . . .

A handful of New York City public schools have netted some famous keynote speakers for their graduation ceremonies, including Steve Madden, the shoe designer, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the Tony Award-winning musical “In the Heights,” the Department of Education announced Wednesday.

Mr. Miranda will speak at Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School on Tuesday, and Mr. Madden will speak at Harry S. Truman High School in the Bronx next Wednesday.

Neil deGrasse Tyson, the director of the Hayden Planetarium and the former host of “Nova ScienceNow” on PBS, will give the keynote address at Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School next Wednesday. The full list of graduation speakers is below:

June 20

Mekbib Gemeda, the assistant dean for diversity affairs and community health and the director of the Center for the Health of the African Diaspora at New York University School of Medicine, will speak at Middle School 255, the Salk School of Science in Manhattan.

June 22

Pedro Noguera, an urban sociologist at New York University, will speak at West Brooklyn Community High School.

Salvatore Cassano, the Fire Department of New York commissioner, will speak at FDNY High School for Fire and Life Safety in Brooklyn.

Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich, the author of “Eighth-Grade Superzero,” a children’s book set in Brooklyn, will speak at Junior High School 167, Robert F. Wagner, in Manhattan.

June 25

Jeannette Bayardelle, a Broadway actress, will speak at the South Bronx Academy for Applied Media.

Telly Leung, a Broadway actor and an alumnus, will speak at Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan.

Johanna Sambucini, Miss New York State, will speak at Fort Hamilton High School, in Brooklyn.

Congressman Edolphus Towns, who represents Brooklyn’s 10th Congressional District, will speak at Transit Tech Career and Technical Education High School in Brooklyn.

June 26

Christopher Emdin, a professor at Teachers College at Columbia University, will speak at the Bushwick School for Social Justice in Brooklyn.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, whose musical “In the Heights” won several Tony Awards in 2008, will speak at Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School in Manhattan.

Umar Abdulla-Johnson, a psychologist and radio personality, will speak at George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School in Brooklyn.

Anita Sabatino, managing director at IBM, will speak at Port Richmond High School on Staten Island.

June 27

Neil deGrasse Tyson, the director of the Hayden Planetarium and former host of NOVA ScienceNow, will speak at Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School.

Steve Madden, the shoe designer, will speak at Harry S. Truman High School in the Bronx.

State Senator Eric Adams will speak at ACORN Community High School in Brooklyn.
